5/1/2021

QOD: Saturday Plans?

STS 1,613: Quit with Larry and Scott. Ding about 3 1/2 hours of litter clean-up in the community and then BBQ

Larry 42 golf today and softball and golf tommorow

SC – 1106 – Happy Saturday – May be getting a water storage tank for the garden

Dayton 101. Still quitting with you guys

RWM 1516 – Workout, yard work, cooking up something good, Quit!

Dugan 150 – I’d like to be on the golf course, but it’s been raining here for three days. I’ll trade golf any day for the rain. Hey Larry, you’re next for the HOF. We are rootin for ya.

Roll Call for anyone less than 100 days quit. “Quote this post” and then remove 2 lines of code at the beginning and end of the quoted post. Add your name and day count and anything else. Change date if you are making the first post of the day. That is your promise not to use nicotine today. Hit ‘Submit Reply’.

New Quitters Post Your Promise Below:

Scott D. Logging another day.

Supporters:

RWM 1,172 Not going to spend $8.50 – $15 to have my mouth full of shit all day long today.

STS – 1,269: Think I’ll save the money and my teeth, gums and jaw at the same time. No dip for me

Scott D. Logging another day. [Edit by RWM to get Scott on the correct day thread. Scott find the last post and do what you’ve been doing, and also add your day count. Meanwhile, the only real way to screw anything up here is to dip again]

QOD:

RWM 1518 – Scott D, you might have a mistaken idea of what we do here. We don’t just log days. We make a promise each day to stay tobacco/nicotine free every day. We keep our word. Next day we do it again. We make quitting our top priority in life because that’s what it takes. If you’ve found a better way, let us know.

Nick- 922- Over the weekend I saw Brian Welch speak at a local church. He’s the lead guitarist for the band Korn. He spoke about his addiction to alcohol and meth. Listening to his story sounded a lot like my addiction to nicotine, and probably similar to everyone else’s story too. Addiction is addiction regardless of the poison of choice. We all told ourselves the same lies, did the same deceitful actions, and let our families down due to our bondage to some substance. I am no longer a slave to my addiction and will not give into it today, that is my promise to you all.

STS 1,615: Amen to both RWM and Nick. Are there some days now that the thought of tobacco never enters my mind? Yes. Have I completely forgotten about tobacco? No. Should I try to forget or pretend that I am not a tobacco addict? Hell No! Own the fact, and then come here each day and promise not to use. That’s how we roll. Happy to support my brothers on here that are battling with me. NDT

SC – 1108 – I am just an addict who is not actively participating in my addiction. Daily posting works – especially in the beginning. Get your post on the boards first thing when you are new. It really helps get your head right for the day – no matter what happens, when your promise is made you can scratch caving off your list.

UncleBubba – 6398 – I will always be an addict of nicotine. Even as I come up on 18 years quit every now and then I catch myself thinking about it, my brain f’ing with me. But now it is an easy thought to put away. It does get better, but you will always need to keep your guard up.

Quit Date - October 27, 2003

" I realized that I saw my addiction as a wall, a big-assed wall, like the Great Wall. It was too high to climb, to thick to beat through, to deeply set to dig under, and too wide to go around. It had beaten me and I had to admit that I could not fight with it anymore. To get to the other side I had to turn my back on it, stop looking for the quick fix to get to the other side, and take the old first step on a 10,000 mile journey. I accepted that it would take many, many days before I could look back and not see that wall. That, it seems, was the difference." - Dulouz Feb '04
